The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch the KP Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme for commercial vehicles, offering monthly subsidies on petrol and diesel as fuel prices continue to rise following tensions with Iran.
The provincial Transport Department said the new initiative aims to support public and commercial transport operators facing higher operating costs. The move comes as federal and provincial authorities roll out fuel relief measures for different groups, from motorcyclists to transport providers.
Under the scheme, the provincial government will provide monthly fuel subsidies to owners of commercial vehicles across several categories. Bus operators will receive up to Rs100,000 per month. Larger vehicles will get Rs80,000, while truck owners will receive Rs70,000 in monthly fuel support.
Subsidy Amounts for Different Vehicle Categories
The Transport Department has also set separate subsidy levels for smaller public transport vehicles.
Minibuses will receive Rs40,000 per month, while van owners will get Rs35,000. These payments are meant to reduce the burden of higher petrol and diesel prices on commercial transport operators.
The scheme’s application process will be fully digitised. That step is intended to make the system easier for applicants to use while also improving transparency.

A digital process could also help the government manage applications more efficiently and reduce delays in subsidy distribution.
The launch of the scheme highlights how sharply rising petroleum prices are affecting the transport sector. By targeting commercial vehicles, the provincial government appears to be focusing on operators who face direct pressure from fuel costs and who also play a key role in public mobility and goods transport.
The programme also reflects a broader policy trend, as governments continue to search for ways to soften the economic impact of fuel price hikes on the public and the transport network.
