A new 13-member cabinet for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is scheduled to be sworn in at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Friday. The ceremony will inaugurate a team comprising 10 ministers, two advisers, and one special assistant to the chief minister.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has formally approved the ministerial appointments submitted by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The cabinet members include Mina Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Faisal Turkai, Aaqibullah, and Arshad Ayub Khan, among others.
Mazmil Aslam and Taj Muhammad Tarand will serve as advisers, while Shafeeullah Jan will assume the role of Special Assistant to the Chief Executive.
The cabinet’s formation marks the end of a period of political uncertainty. Chief Minister Afridi, a young PTI leader elected on October 13, had faced repeated obstacles in consulting with the party’s founder, Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated in Rawalpindi.

This marks the fourth time permission for such a meeting has been denied, despite a relevant order from the Islamabad High Court. Afridi had previously emphasised to the court that these consultations were crucial for finalising the provincial cabinet.
In recent statements, Chief Minister Afridi outlined his approach to leading the province. He confirmed that he has begun reviewing provincial affairs through a series of official briefings.
Speaking on governance philosophy, Afridi remarked that resolving public issues requires sincere intent more than extensive experience. “To run provincial matters, one needs the will to serve the public, not just experience,” he stated.
The chief minister also indicated that this initial 13-member cabinet represents a first phase, with additional members under consideration for future inclusion
