During his inaugural summer holiday in Balmoral since becoming monarch, King Charles of Britain, alongside Queen Camilla, bestowed a new Colour upon the Royal Guard.
The royal family unveiled images from this significant event at Balmoral Castle on their official Instagram account. The caption read, “In a ceremony held within Balmoral Castle’s grounds, The King, joined by The Queen, awarded a new Colour (regimental flag) to the Royal Guard.”
Known as ‘The Ballater Colour’, this ceremonial flag is reserved for the Royal Guard, who protect Balmoral Castle while the monarch spends summer there. This new Colour symbolizes the commencement of King Charles’s reign.
Captured in the photos, King Charles is depicted wearing a traditional kilt during the ceremony. Despite the recent announcement of Prince Harry’s return to the UK for charity work (without Meghan Markle), the King seemed composed in the photographs. Prince Harry is set to arrive in Britain on September 7.
