Traders across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have announced a complete shutdown strike on April 26, 2025, to express solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The strike, supported by major trade organisations, aims to protest Israel’s military operations in Gaza. This action aligns with a nationwide strike called by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), amplifying the call for peace and justice.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khalil, Senior Vice President of the Jamiat Business Forum, confirmed that the strike will cover the entire K-P province, including Peshawar. Khalil emphasised that arrangements exist for a peaceful protest, with trader organisations united in their support.

The K-P strike coincides with a nationwide strike announced by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman during a pro-Palestine rally on the Islamabad Expressway. Addressing thousands, Rehman condemned the reported deaths of over 51,000 Palestinians in Gaza since Israel’s military response to Hamas’s October 7 attack, describing it as genocide. The JI’s call aims to unite Pakistanis in solidarity with Palestinians and demand an end to the violence.
The strike reflects Pakistan’s strong stance on the Palestinian cause, showcasing unity among traders, political groups, and citizens. K-P traders aim to raise global awareness about the Gaza crisis by closing businesses and leveraging social media.
