On August 1, 2025, senior lawyer Advocate Khawaja Shamsul Islam was fatally shot near a mosque in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, Karachi, as confirmed by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South.
Khawaja Shamsul Islam’s son, who was also injured in the attack, was quickly rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Both victims were initially in critical condition, but Khawaja Shamsul Islam ultimately succumbed to his injuries, while his son continues to receive medical care.

According to Azam Rajpar, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Clifton police, a group of 15 to 20 unidentified men assaulted him with iron rods and shot him, causing injuries to his hand and ear. He received treatment at South City Hospital, and the police attributed the attack to a “personal dispute.”
