Defence Minister Khawaja Asif unleashed a salvo on Thursday, March 6, 2025, questioning why former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa resettled terrorists in Pakistan.
Speaking at Parliament House, Asif insisted Bajwa face scrutiny, noting ex-ISI chief Faiz Hamid’s arrest leaves the Khawaja Asif Bajwa clash front and center in the nation’s terrorism debate.
KP’s Terror Failures Under Scrutiny
Asif pegged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) government as a weak link, accusing it of battling PTI founder Imran Khan’s political foes instead of militants. “Terrorism’s a global fight—KP’s done zilch,” he snapped, demanding an inquiry into its lapses.
Pakistan’s terror toll skyrocketed 45% from 748 deaths in 2023 to 1,081 in 2024, vaulting it to second on the 2025 Global Terrorism Index, a grim leap from fourth.
Bajwa, Faiz, and Khan in the Hot Seat
“Bajwa, Faiz, and Khan brought terrorists back,” Asif charged, spotlighting a trio he blames for the surge. “Faiz is locked up—Bajwa’s next to answer.” He shrugged off Khan’s letter to Donald Trump as “internal politics gone global,” predicting it’ll flop like past efforts. On talks, he added, “Dialogue needs a non-hostile foe—otherwise, it’s resistance.” Asif distanced himself from the establishment’s voice, keeping his stance solo.
