The Pakistan Tehreek—e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan lambasted the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) led goverment and termed it a ‘dictatorship.’
Addressing a gathering in Islamabad after flaunting the law that bans election rallies for local body elections he said “This is not democracy, this is a democratic dictatorship. Even Musharraf was more democratic than this government. Mian Sahib can announce 2.5 billion package but I can’t even present my manifesto,”
Khan was also critical of the electoral body and went on to question logic behind its decision to bar a party chairman from making a speech. “I want to ask election commission, what law of yours stops a party chairman from giving a speech,” he said.
Khan said Nawaz Sharif was allowed to announce Rs2.5 billion package before Lodhran by-election but he was not permitted to address a rally.
“I want to thank people of Islamabad for reaching here against all odds. While I am alive I will never leave my people,” said the PTI chairman.
Imran Khan also criticized Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former president of the country Asif Ali Zardari Zardari who he said had embezzled billions of rupees from national exchequer.
“Zardari digested six billion rupees taken from this nation but no action has been taken by this government,” he said, urging the people to stand up against corrupt politician.
