Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan cancelled his plan to address public meetings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to comply with the new code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today.
The move came a few hours after the ECP took notice of Imran Khan’s appearance in the party’s campaign in Multan and asked him to appear in person over violation of the code of conduct which bars the party’s chief from taking part in the campaign.
Khan was due to take part in three jalsas in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur today and arrangements were also finalized for his address.
The PTI chief reportedly consulted his legal aides on the issue and decided to put off his direct involvement in the campaign for the upcoming local government elections of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
