In a new twist in celebrity legal battles, comedian Kevin Hart has initiated legal action against YouTuber Tasha K, real name Latasha Kebe, for what he claims is extortion. The lawsuit follows a controversial interview conducted by Tasha K with Hart’s former assistant, Miesha Shakes, who made several scandalous accusations against the comedian.
During the interview, recorded in November 2023 and later published on Tasha K’s subscription-based website, Shakes alleged that Hart cheated on his wife Eniko Parrish and engaged in the affair at his office. She claimed to have informed Parrish of Hart’s infidelity and also accused Hart of having a gambling problem.
Following the interview, an associate of Tasha K allegedly demanded a $250,000 ransom from Hart’s team to prevent the release of the interview. Hart’s team responded by involving law enforcement and issuing a cease and desist letter to Tasha K, citing a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement Shakes had signed during her employment with Hart.
Hart’s Legal Action and Tasha K’s Previous Lawsuits
Hart’s lawsuit against Tasha K and Miesha Shakes includes charges of defamation, civil extortion, breach of contract, and invasion of privacy. Hart is seeking compensatory and general damages, as well as legal fees. The suit also accuses Tasha K of intentional interference with contractual relations.
The legal confrontation is not Tasha K’s first; she has a history of facing legal challenges, including a defamation lawsuit by rapper Cardi B in 2019, resulting in over $3 million in damages for making false and damaging claims.
Representatives for Hart and Tasha K have not yet responded to media inquiries regarding the lawsuit. However, Tasha K has reposted the interview on her Instagram Story, indicating her stance. This case adds to the growing list of legal challenges faced by celebrities in the digital age, where social media and online content creation have significant impacts.
