The government has provided further relief to consumers by sharply reducing kerosene prices, following earlier cuts to petrol and high-speed diesel rates.
According to an official notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs9.66 per litre. The new rate is now Rs170.88 per litre, compared with the previous price of Rs180.54.
The reduction is expected to provide meaningful relief, particularly for households in rural and colder regions where kerosene remains a primary fuel for cooking, lighting, and heating. Many low-income families continue to rely on kerosene stoves and heaters due to limited access to alternative energy sources.
Government officials said the downward revision reflects recent movements in global oil prices and domestic policy adjustments. They added that the government aims to pass on the benefit of lower international prices directly to consumers to help ease inflationary pressures.

Energy analysts noted that kerosene is still a basic necessity in several parts of the country, making the price cut especially beneficial for vulnerable groups. They said the reduction could slightly lower daily household expenses at a time when inflation continues to strain purchasing power.
The move follows earlier government decisions to reduce the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, which were widely welcomed by the public. Citizens and experts alike say that sustained stability and gradual fuel price reductions could contribute to broader inflation control in the coming months.
