Kenyan police arrested serial killer Collins Jomaisi Khalusha; he is accused of the gruesome murders of nine women, with their bodies found mutilated in a deserted quarry in Nairobi, now believed to be a dumping ground.
Khalusha confessed to the murder of 42 women since 2022, including his wife. The revelation emerged when police detained him at a bar during the Euro final match at around 3:00 AM on Monday. The discovery of mutilated bodies at the Mukuru quarry has sparked nationwide shock and outrage.
The Director of Criminal Investigation disclosed, “Khalusha admitted he lured, killed, and disposed of 42 female bodies at this site, all murdered between 2022 and just last Thursday.”
This case has led many Kenyans to question how such a large number of murders could go unnoticed by the police over two years. Following his arrest, Khalusha guided the police to his residence, located roughly 100 meters from the crime scene.
Items seized at his home included mobile phones, a laptop, two counterfeit identity cards, women’s clothing linked to the victims, a machete allegedly used to dismember bodies, and nine sacks similar to those containing the remains.
Police have sealed off the dump site, where they confirmed finding nine bodies exhibiting varying degrees of rigor mortis, all victims of asphyxiation, aged between 18 and 30 years.
While authorities have officially recognized nine bodies, local residents and human rights activists continue to search the area for more. Joseph Waweru, a local resident, reported seeing 16 severely mutilated bodies himself.
As investigations continue, the police have yet to interrogate Khalusha about his motives. He is expected to face charges in court on Tuesday.
