Karachi water supply has been restored after the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) completed repair work on a major transmission line ahead of schedule.
In an official statement, KWSC confirmed that maintenance on the city’s main water line had been successfully finalised. As a result, supply from the Dhabeji pumping station has resumed.
Officials said water distribution will return to normal in phases across different areas of the city.
KWSC had initially allocated 96 hours for the repair work, which began at 12:00 PM on Monday. However, technical teams completed the task 48 hours earlier than planned by working continuously.
According to the spokesperson, the repair was highly technical and critical. Therefore, crews deployed all available resources to minimise disruption and restore services quickly.
The utility acknowledged that residents faced temporary inconvenience during the shutdown. It also apologised for the hardship caused by the suspension.
Karachi Water Disruption
Water supply had been suspended in several parts of Karachi after multiple leaks were reported in an 84-inch-diameter main line in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 19.
Officials said the damage caused a shortfall of about 200 million gallons of water per day. Consequently, large areas of the city experienced reduced or halted supply.

The completion of the repairs now allows water flow from the Dhabeji pumping station to stabilise the system. However, full normalisation may take time as the distribution is being restored in phases.
KWSC clarified that supply pressure will gradually improve in affected neighbourhoods. Areas at the tail end of the distribution network may experience a slight delay before full restoration.
Nevertheless, officials assured residents that the system is now operational and that monitoring teams remain on standby to address any further issues.
The early completion of the repairs has helped reduce the expected duration of disruption. As distribution continues to stabilise, authorities expect conditions to normalise citywide.
