Karachi US Consulate protest violence left at least nine people dead and 18 others injured after clashes between police and demonstrators outside the US Consulate on Sunday.
Hospital officials confirmed that multiple casualties were brought to Civil Hospital Karachi. According to the Edhi ambulance service, six bodies and 10 injured individuals were initially shifted from MT Khan Road. Later, trauma centre authorities reported that seven bodies and 18 injured persons had been received.
Medical officials said victims suffered injuries from firing, baton charges and a stampede during the unrest.
Karachi US Consulate Protest Violence Escalates
The protest erupted after demonstrators gathered outside the consulate and attempted to move toward the premises. Witnesses reported stone-pelting as tensions escalated.
Police responded with shelling and force to disperse the crowd. Rescue officials noted that several people were injured as clashes intensified in the high-security zone.

Traffic in the surrounding area was severely disrupted. Authorities closed the road from Sultanabad toward Mai Kolachi, leading to major congestion.

Karachi traffic police diverted vehicles from Jinnah Bridge toward II Chundrigar Road. Traffic from Boat Basin was given a U-turn at Mai Kolachi Phatak, while vehicles from PIDC were sent back to ease pressure.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar sought details of the incident from the Additional IG Karachi. In a statement, he emphasised that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands and directed officials to strengthen security at sensitive installations across the province.
