Karachi University’s female students narrowly avoided a kidnapping attempt by unidentified perpetrators.
The situation unfolded at the Karachi University’s gate, where the students were coerced at gunpoint to board a rickshaw.
According to one student from the evening shift, they managed a daring escape from the clutches of the two assailants.
The Mobeena Town police, while initially suspecting this to be a case of street crime, have launched a comprehensive investigation to unravel the true motives behind this alarming incident.
Tragedy Strikes: M. Phil Student Found Deceased
In a separate and equally disturbing event earlier in the day, the university was rocked by the discovery of a deceased M. Phil student. Mukhtiar Ali, engaged in advanced organic chemistry studies at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), was lifeless in a hostel washroom within the university’s HEJ Colony.
As detailed by the ICCBS spokesperson, the tragedy came to light when fellow students found Ali, who had been in the washroom since 9:00 a.m., unresponsive at 6:00 p.m. Despite being rapidly transported to the university’s clinic, nothing could be done for Ali, who had enrolled in 2020 and was conducting research under Dr. Hina Siddiqui’s guidance.
These incidents have shadowed Karachi University, prompting concerns over campus student safety and security measures.
