As hot and humid weather continues to grip Sindh, Karachi residents are sweltering, with the “feels like” temperature reaching 45 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
According to a private weather station, the temperature in Karachi’s southern areas has been recorded at 36.8°C, and humidity levels have reached 49%.
However, this “feels like” temperature is specific to southern areas such as Clifton and DHA. The phenomenon depends on factors like humidity, which is higher near the coastline.
The “feels like” temperature represents the actual heat or cold outdoors sensation. It is based on environmental factors such as air temperature and wind speed, influencing how individuals perceive the weather.
It is the temperature sensed by the human body after interacting with the temperature reflected from the Earth’s surface.
This development aligns with the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast of hot and humid weather in Karachi, which is expected to continue for three days.
The Met Office predicts the city’s temperature will remain between 37 to 39°C today, with chances of hot winds from the northwest.
The Met Office has forecast temperatures of up to 47°C in central and upper parts of Sindh.
