Entire Karachi shut down and a protest strike is called ‘even when a fly dies’.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif addressing the members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) today (Friday) said “Pakistan’s prosperity is as long as Karachi remains a hostage to strikes and shutdowns.
Prime Minister in a mocking tone said “Karachi is shut down even if a fly dies here. This is counterproductive to the economy of the country,”
Addressing to to the Sindh governor, Ishrat ul Ibad, PM said “Strikes affect the economy. If they end, the cuntry’s economy will prosper. It will benefit the people of Karachi, the people of Pakistan,” .
He further added “Mr Governor, please listen to this carefully. Even if a fly dies in Karachi, a protest or a strike is called. Mr Governor, you should take notice of this and make arrangements (for this to end),”
PM vowed that there would be no energy shortage in Pakistan by the end of 2017.
“Our objective is not just ending shortage of electricity but also making it more affordable,” he said.
He said that in the next 10 to 20 years, Gwadar would be transformed into a world-class free port like those of other developed countries.
He said that the country was on the path of economic recovery evident from the prevailing inflation rate which he said is currently at its lowest.
