The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced that Karachi experienced its hottest July night on record, with humidity intensifying the heat.
The city’s minimum temperature hit 32 degrees Celsius, surpassing previous records for July.
In 2021 and 2022, July’s lowest temperatures had reached 31 degrees Celsius.
Typically, July averages 27.9 degrees Celsius; last night was 4.1 degrees above this norm.
The meteorological department noted that stalled sea breezes have exacerbated the heat, compounded by high humidity levels.
Karachi’s weather today is expected to remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 37 degrees Celsius.
Winds from the west, northwest, and southwest will blow at 15 to 25 kilometres per hour. Full restoration of sea breezes within 24 hours should moderate temperatures.
