Karachi has been ranked as the second most polluted city in the world today, as temperatures dropped to 13.5 Celsius, according to the Meteorological Office.
The drop in mercury is accompanied by worsening air quality, attributed to the lowering temperatures. The particulate matter level in Karachi has reached 262, placing the city near the top of the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
The Met Office forecasts that the weather in Karachi will remain dry, with colder nights in the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to stay within 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the humidity ratio has been recorded at 57 per cent. The city is experiencing northeastern winds at a speed of five nautical miles.
Regional Weather Conditions in Sindh and Balochistan
In broader regional terms, most districts of Sindh, including Jacobabad, Mohen Jo Daro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, and Padidan, are expected to experience cold and dry weather with potential fog and smog.
In Balochistan, cold and frosty conditions will prevail across most districts, with the northern regions facing extreme cold weather. These conditions highlight the varying climatic patterns across different parts of Pakistan.
