Terrorists launched an assault on the Karachi Police’s main office situated on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi.
Preliminary reports indicate that armed assailants invaded the police facility on Sharea Faisal, initiating indiscriminate gunfire. Concurrently, several explosions were reported in the vicinity of the building.
In response to the aggression, law enforcement personnel swiftly engaged the attackers. Additional support from neighbouring police stations and specialized police commando units was promptly mobilized to manage the crisis effectively.
Additional IG Javed Alam Odhu has confirmed the attack on the police station and stated that security personnel is battling the terrorists on the scene. At the same time, a sizable contingent of Rangers has also arrived.
The police station’s electricity has been turned off as SSU commandos and Rangers personnel have entered.
Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, has taken notice of the attack and given the order to the district inspector generals (DIGs) to take all the necessary actions.
He told the authorities in a statement to detain the offenders right away.
“The assault on the office of the police chief in Karachi is in no way acceptable. I want a report of the incident from the officer in question.’ the statement reads.
A counterterrorism operation against the terrorists has reportedly been launched; Pakistan Television (PTV) news reported that Pakistan Rangers and an elite police force cordoned off the area close to the AIG Office in Karachi.
