In Karachi, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Legal Zafar Javed and his son were detained under suspicion of involvement in a robbery at a local betel shop in the Gulshan Iqbal area on June 2.
The arrest followed a thorough review of CCTV footage that linked a police vehicle assigned to DSP Legal to the crime scene. This footage prompted immediate police action.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the evidence and investigation led directly to DSP Javed involvement of DSP Javed, his son and associates in the robbery. Police officials said they seized the police vehicle used in the incident and confirmed ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Details from the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the shop owner, Shahzaib, indicate that the robbers, dressed in civilian clothes, arrived in a police vehicle. They forcibly took cash totalling 15,000 PKR and various cigarettes valued at 50,000 PKR. Subsequently, the shop owner was abducted in the vehicle and later abandoned near the Gulshan Roundabout after being robbed of an additional 10,000 PKR.
