Karachi plunges into dark yet again

A major power breakdown hit Karachi again on Thursday night, plunging more than half of the city into dark.

The blackout began after a transmission line of 220 KV from Bin Qasim-I tripped again.

The areas affected areas include Buffer Zone, Ramswami, Ayesha Manzil, Orangi Town, Metroville SITE, Soldier Bazar, Tipu Sultar Road and Surjani Town.All blocks of Federal B. Area also are facing the blackout.

After the breakdown, the power supply discontinued to major part of the metropolis including North Karachi’s 5G1, areas around Nipa Chowrangi, Liaquatabad C1 Area, Safoora Goth, Saadi Town, Korangi, Gulshan-e-Jamal, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Baldia Town, Model Colony, North Nazimabad, Bahadurabad, Tariq Road, Gulshah-e-Iqbal’s 13B and PIB Colony.

According to K-Electric spokesman, the tripping of the high transmission line affected 12 out of 64 grids.
