Karachi police arrested a domestic worker named Shehnaz in the Khayaban-e-Tanzeem area of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for allegedly stealing Rs50 million over 15 years from a bungalow where she worked. The investigation revealed a shockingly lavish lifestyle, with Shehnaz owning five cars, three flats, a commercial shop, and Rs4 million in bank accounts.
Shehnaz reportedly stole the funds from a specific room in her employer’s home over a decade and a half. With the stolen money, she purchased:
- Five vehicles, including a Rs6.5 million, were rented out for substantial monthly income.
- Three flats, two of which were rented out.
- A commercial shop for her son, co-accused Asif.
Police recovered Rs600,000 from her residence and are searching for additional accomplices. Investigations continue to uncover the full extent of her property holdings, including assets in her native town.

Authorities noted Shehnaz’s extravagant habits, including frequent shopping at upscale malls and evenings at high-end cafés. She was known for wearing branded clothing, starkly contrasting her role as a domestic worker. Her bank accounts, holding approximately Rs4 million, further highlighted her wealth accumulation.
The case surfaced after a complaint, possibly via the homeowner’s accountant, leading to Shehnaz’s arrest. Police are conducting raids to recover additional assets and identify accomplices. The investigation aims to trace how Shehnaz orchestrated the thefts and managed her investments without detection for 15 years.
