Karachi’s premier literary event is set to return. Organisers have announced the 17th Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) will be held from February 6 to 8, 2026 at its traditional venue, the Beach Luxury Hotel.
The event promises to uphold its legacy of insightful discussions and cultural celebration. It will host numerous prominent national and international speakers, though specific names and the annual theme are yet to be revealed.
With a seventeen-year history, the KLF has several beloved staples. Attendees can anticipate a rich program featuring:
- Book Launches: A central platform for authors to debut new works.
- Panel Discussions: Engaging conversations, particularly on pressing social issues.
- Vendor Stalls: A vast marketplace with books on every conceivable topic, from anime to zoology.
The festival’s famous book bazaar often offers an overwhelming and delightful selection for bibliophiles, where exceeding one’s budget is a common joy.
Beyond books, the KLF is a multidisciplinary cultural hub. Last year’s theme, “Narrative from the Soil,” featured Pakistani film screenings and a powerful closing qawwali performance with the Arts Council of Pakistan.
A key focus remains nurturing young readers. The dedicated Youth Pavilion hosts activities such as storytelling sessions, puppet shows, and theatre performances. This space aims to foster a lasting love for literature in the next generation.
The 2026 Karachi Literature Festival will offer something to do and something to learn for every attendee. It remains the city’s ultimate gathering for minds curious about stories, ideas, and the power of the written word.
