Karachi’s Commissioner, Syed Hassan Naqvi, announced the enforcement of Section 144 throughout the city from November 18 to 24. This measure coincides with the 2024 International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS).
The commissioner’s notification clarified that this temporary ban aims to enhance security and facilitate smooth event operations.
Under this directive, gatherings, protests, and rallies are banned, including assemblies of over five people.
This initiative supports the seamless participation of both local and international attendees at the defence exhibition, ensuring no disruptions and maintaining attendee safety.

In a related development, the Sindh Education Department temporarily closed educational institutions in certain Karachi areas during IDEAS.
Specifically, schools and colleges along Shahrah-e-Faisal will close from November 19 to 22. Similarly, institutions on Habib Ibrahim Road will shut during these dates, as confirmed by the department’s notification.
