On June 8, 2025, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned of a severe heatwave gripping Karachi and other regions. Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist until June 12. Residents are urged to take precautions to stay safe amid soaring temperatures and high humidity.
The PMD forecasts maximum temperatures in Karachi between 35°C and 37°C over the next three days, with a minimum of 28.2°C recorded Sunday morning. Humidity levels are 78%, worsened by sea winds blowing at 16 km/h and high atmospheric pressure. Intermittent strong winds may offer slight relief, but the city will remain uncomfortable.
The PMD warned that residents in the port city should stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight due to the risks of heat-related illnesses.
Heatwave Grips Balochistan and Sindh
Balochistan is enduring intense heat, with temperatures 4°C to 6°C above normal. On June 7, Sibi hit 49°C, Turbat reached 41°C, and Nokkundi recorded 43°C. Quetta remains dry, but southern and central districts face scorching conditions.

In Sindh, upper and central areas are bracing for temperatures 3°C to 5°C higher than normal through June 12. The PMD warns of increased health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations.
The PMD recommends drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothing, and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours (11 AM to 4 PM). Authorities monitor the situation, and emergency services are on alert. Pakistan’s frequent heat waves highlight the need for climate resilience.
