The death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali has taken a dramatic turn with a citizen’s petition filed in Karachi’s City Court alleging foul play. Shahzaib Sohail’s legal filing claims the 32-year-old performer’s recent death was not natural but a planned murder, contradicting initial police assessments.
According to DIG South Asad Raza, preliminary investigations have revealed no signs of forced entry at Asghar’s DHA apartment, as the residence was locked from the inside. However, growing public scepticism stems from several red flags: the actress’s complete social media silence since September 2024, the cessation of rent payments since April 2024, and her family’s apparent estrangement.
Sohail’s court submission cites disturbing crime scene footage and emphasises the unusual circumstances surrounding Asghar’s death. The petition specifically requests:
- Inclusion of Asghar’s family in the investigation
- Official responses from SSP South and SHO Gizri
- Comprehensive forensic analysis of the death scene
Authorities discovered Asghar’s body on July 8, 2025, during an eviction enforcement at her Ittehad Commercial Area apartment. Neighbours reported detecting odours earlier, but the investigation was delayed due to an adjacent vacant unit. The locked balcony and main doors initially suggested solitary death.

The case has encountered obstacles due to family disengagement. Asghar’s father refused to claim her remains, referencing long-standing severed ties, while her brother only participated minimally. Recently, a brother-in-law has come forward to assume responsibility for the body currently held at Chhipa morgue.
Asghar gained recognition for her roles in the reality show “Tamasha Ghar” and the film “Jalaibee.” Colleagues describe her as a private individual who had lived alone for years before her death.
