The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced that Karachi will experience extremely hot and humid weather in the next 24 hours due to a heatwave.
Today, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 40°C and 42°C, and the current humidity level is 75%.
Winds are blowing from the west at 18 kilometres per hour. The heatwave is expected to last until June 1.
The minimum temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 29°C.
On Thursday, the temperature reached 39.5°C with 63% humidity. This followed the hottest day of the year when the temperature hit 41.5°C.
Karachi’s highest-ever temperature of 48°C was recorded on May 9, 1938.
The PMD warned of extremely hot and humid weather in southern parts of the country for the next two days. Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.
