A massive fire that erupted at warehouses storing used tyres in Karachi’s Baldia Moach Goth area continues to burn fiercely after more than nine hours. Fire officials have stated that the third-degree blaze may require up to 20 hours to be fully extinguished.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan reported that more than 13 fire tenders from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Rescue 1122 are engaged in the operation. A snorkel unit arrived at the site approximately six hours after the fire initially broke out.
Dry and windy weather conditions are presenting a significant challenge to firefighting teams. “Strong winds are spreading the flames rapidly and making it difficult for firefighters to maintain control,” explained Chief Fire Officer Khan.

— Anadolu English (@anadoluagency) October 30, 2025The fire has engulfed multiple warehouses within a compound spanning nearly five acres, threatening nearby structures. To prevent the blaze from spreading further, crews are working from three sides and demolishing boundary walls around the affected site.
The operation initially faced water shortages, but coordination with the Karachi Water Board and the SITE Association has since ensured a continuous supply via water tankers.
“No casualties have been reported so far,” officials confirmed, noting that firefighting teams will remain on-site through the night to protect surrounding residential areas.
Deputy Commissioner Keamari, Tariq Chandio, confirmed the fire was reported around 4 p.m. and involved a facility used for storing and cutting old tyres. While the situation remains critical, authorities are optimistic that with a steady water supply, the blaze will be brought under control.
