Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Saturday imposed section 144 of the law prohibiting citizens from sea bathing.
A notification was issued by Karachi administration imposing ban on bathing in the sea.
“We have prohibited bathing in sea due to high tide. The decision is taken for the protection of citizens,” Commissioner Karachi said.
He also added that the citizens are barred from bathing in the sea but not from going near it.
Meanwhile, police started stopping the public from going to the sea which erupted a protest in Maripur area of the city where public gathered on streets and blocked the traffic.
Last year on Eid-ul-Fitr, at least 40 people drowned in the Clifton sea view of Karachi due to the rough sea.
