Kanye West, now known as Ye, took to X on April 9, 2025, to express that his ongoing feud with Taylor Swift, among other controversies, has prevented him from headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.
He stated, “I was never allowed to do the Super Bowl because of three moments,” referencing his 2005 comment, “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people,” his conflict with Swift, and his support for Trump while wearing a MAGA hat.
Ye says he was blacklisted from the Super Bowl over three moments: the Bush remark, the Taylor Swift interruption, and the MAGA hat.

The conflict between the rapper and Taylor Swift began at the 2009 VMAs when he interrupted her acceptance speech, claiming that Beyoncé deserved the award instead. Tensions resurfaced in 2016 when he released the song “Famous,” which Swift stated included lyrics used without her permission. West now suggests that these incidents, along with his support for Trump and subsequent antisemitic remarks, have “blocked” him from performing at the NFL’s biggest events.

West claims he is “ahead of his time,” suggesting there may be underlying reasons for his exclusion from major events. Although he performed alongside Rihanna in a pre-Super Bowl event in 2015, he has yet to secure a headline slot. His recent comments have reignited discussions about whether his past behaviour, such as public feuds, controversial political views, and provocative statements, is the reason he has been sidelined.
