An excerpt from Kamala Harris’ upcoming memoir, 107 Days, published by The Atlantic, revealed her blunt criticism of Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election bid. Harris, who replaced Biden as the Democratic presidential candidate but lost to Donald Trump, called the decision to let the then-81-year-old run again “reckless.” She also criticised White House staff for undermining her as vice president.
In 107 Days, Harris reflects on Biden’s age-related challenges, noting he “got tired” and showed “physical and verbal stumbles.” She wrote, “It was recklessness. The stakes were too high for an individual’s ego.” Despite this, she praised Biden’s knowledge and compassion, saying, “On his worst day, he was more capable than Trump on his best.”

Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024 after a poor debate performance raised concerns about his mental acuity. Harris denied any cover-up of his condition but admitted his age was evident.
Harris accused Biden’s team of failing to support her, claiming they were fine with unfair stories about her. “They decided I should be knocked down a bit more,” she wrote. She also said she took the blame for Biden’s border policy, which Trump used against her in the election. Her 107-day campaign, the shortest in modern US history, ended in a loss to Trump.
