The Election Commission of Pakistan has designated Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha as the tribunal judge for three electoral constituencies in Islamabad, following advocacy by PML-N MNAs.
The ECP appointed Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha after replacing Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri.
Justice Paracha previously headed the inquiry commission for the murder of Arshad Sharif but resigned before his term began due to controversies surrounding his reputation.
Justice Paracha, who has served as a PCO judge, was subject to a reference filed against him in the Supreme Judicial Council, alleging corruption. He resigned from his judicial position to avoid disciplinary action and to secure his pension benefits.
Additionally, Justice Paracha led a commission investigating the arrest of PTI leader Shireen Mazari. However, this commission has yet to release its findings.
