Jonathan Majors, an emerging star in Hollywood known for his roles in Marvel superhero films, has been convicted of one misdemeanour assault charge and one harassment violation.
The verdict stems from an altercation with his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, which has potential repercussions for his career.
The altercation took place in March in a hired car when Jabbari discovered a flirtatious text message on Majors’ phone, leading to a physical struggle. Majors was accused of twisting Jabbari’s arm and striking her head, an incident for which he now faces a possible jail sentence. During the two-week trial, Jabbari testified about a pattern of psychological and emotional abuse, revealing Majors’ alleged erratic behaviour and past violent incidents
. The jury also reviewed recordings of Majors demanding Jabbari to emulate the behaviour of other famous men’s wives.
While Majors was acquitted on two counts, his conviction could disrupt Marvel Studios’ plans, particularly his role as Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” Despite his assertion of innocence and claim that Jabbari was the aggressor, the conviction poses a major challenge to his rapidly ascending career in Hollywood, including his popularity among Marvel fans.
The actor’s future, especially with his involvement in major projects like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Creed III,” now hangs in the balance as he awaits sentencing on February 6.
