Joint session of the Parliament is underway in Islamabad with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.
Parliamentarians are holding discussion on the prevailing situation arising out of the sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in the federal capital. The joint session is scheduled to discuss the prevailing political crisis and will give suggestions to end the deadlock. The session is also expected to adopt a joint resolution for upholding supremacy of the Constitution.
By convening a joint session of parliament, where Nawaz Sharif has a solid majority, the prime minister seeks to reaffirm that he is fully in control of the situation. He and his aides have repeatedly said he would not quit.
