The 2025 Royal Rumble event captivated fans worldwide with its stunning surprises and dramatic outcomes. Charlotte Flair returned triumphantly to in-ring competition, securing the women’s Royal Rumble title in a remarkable comeback. However, the event spotlight shone brightest on Jey Uso, who outperformed 29 other wrestlers to claim the men’s Royal Rumble title, marking a significant career milestone.
The event also featured a poignant moment as veteran WWE star John Cena made his final Royal Rumble appearance. Cena was close to winning his third Royal Rumble title, eliminating popular figure Logan Paul and appearing as the favourite to win.
The match came down to Cena and Uso, with Uso making a stunning recovery and ultimately eliminating Cena from the ring. After his elimination, Cena’s reaction, pausing in disbelief, underscored the moment’s gravity while the crowd erupted to celebrate Uso’s victory.
After his impressive victory, Uso will take centre stage at WrestleMania 41 in April 2025.
The event was also notable for the unexpected participation of Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed, a prominent YouTuber. Watkins entered the ring after Akira Tozawa’s elimination and quickly made his presence felt by assisting Bron Brekker in eliminating Otis. Watkins celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Sui’ celebration, complete with a backflip, before his experience took a dramatic turn. He faced a powerful spear from the Intercontinental champion and was quickly thrown out of the ring. Otis, already eliminated, attempted to catch Watkins, leading to a rough landing on the announce table.
