Jim Miller, a seasoned competitor in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), made it to the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the most UFC wins, reaching 26, following Jim Miller’s 26th win triumphed over Mexico’s Gabriel Benítez in the third round of their match at UFC Vegas 84.
Miller, 40, surpassed his record with his 43rd appearance in the Octagon, a match initially slated for February of the previous year but postponed due to Benítez’s injury. Despite the age difference with his younger opponent, Miller entered the cage as the betting favourite and demonstrated his prowess in a tightly contested kickboxing match. In the final round, he eventually secured a win with a rear naked choke submission.
Veteran Fighters’ Performance and Milestones
The event also featured former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski, aged 44, who increased his total UFC fights to 41. However, he narrowly missed achieving his 24th UFC win. Meanwhile, Miller, who made his UFC debut in October 2008, has accumulated 12 victories via submission, ranking him second only to Charles Oliveira for the most UFC submission wins.
Miller has faced numerous prominent fighters, including Edgar, Henderson, Nate Diaz, and Diego Sanchez. Notably, he is one of the only two fighters, alongside Brock Lesnar, to have competed in UFC 100 and 200. With Lesnar’s retirement, Miller can create history by participating in UFC 300, should he remain fit.
Reflecting on this possibility, Miller expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge and enduring passion for fighting. He looks forward to the potential of a quick turnaround for his next fight, embracing the additional pressure it brings.
