A jihadist group that has claimed a large number of attacks on Egyptian security forces yesterday
threatened new assaults against the army.
The Sinai-based Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (Partisans of Jerusalem), the most active militant group in Egypt, said it was engaged in a “war without end”.
“We will continue to fight the army until the day of judgment,” said a recording posted on Twitter by the group that has pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda.
Ansar Beit al-Maqdis boasts of being behind regular attacks on the security forces since the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
