Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, has regained his position as the world’s second-richest person, overtaking Elon Musk, according to a recent report by Forbes. Bezos’ net worth increased to $202.4 billion after a significant $5.4 billion rise in stock value, surpassing Musk’s net worth, which also saw an increase of $11 million, bringing it to $197.7 billion.
In April, Musk moved ahead of Bezos into second place following a successful trip to China. This trip helped overcome major regulatory challenges impacting his company’s self-driving software. Despite this, Musk has now fallen back to third place.
Bezos is now just $4.5 billion away from claiming the title of the richest man on earth, a position currently held by Bernard Arnault, the chairman of LVMH, whose net worth stands at $206.9 billion.
The competition between Bezos and Musk for the title of the world’s wealthiest has been intense, with the two trading places at least 13 times in the past month alone. Before March, Musk frequently held the position, but recent challenges, including significant layoffs and a downturn in Tesla sales, have made it difficult for him to maintain his ranking.
In his personal life, Bezos is in a relationship with journalist Lauren Sanchez, with whom he resides in Florida. In 2019, Bezos announced his divorce from Mackenzie Scott, his wife of 25 years.
