On Sunday, Jasprit Bumrah joined Ravindra Jadeja as the second-fastest Indian to claim 200 Test wickets, achieving this during the fourth Test against Australia. Bumrah is the first bowler to reach this milestone with an average below 20.
He secured his 200th wicket by dismissing Travis Head for 1 on Day 4, in his 44th Test match.
During the same match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Bumrah’s performance was pivotal as India reduced Australia to 135/6 by tea, eyeing an impressive victory.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest Indian to 200 Test wickets, reaching the milestone in 37 Tests.
Bumrah stands out globally among fast bowlers, maintaining an average below 20—a feat not achieved by legends like West Indies’ Malcolm Marshall or England’s James Anderson.
In the overall fastest to 200 wickets, Ashwin ranks third, just behind leg-spinners Yasir Shah of Pakistan and Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett.
On Sunday, Bumrah also dismissed Mitchell Marsh for 0 and opener Sam Konstas for 8, increasing his wickets tally in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to 28.
