Jasprit Bumrah made history on Day 2 of the third Test against England at Lord’s by surpassing Kapil Dev’s long-standing record for the most five-wicket hauls in away Tests for India. Bumrah’s impressive performance of 5 wickets for 74 runs brought his total to 13 away five-wicket hauls, accomplished in just 35 Tests. In contrast, Kapil Dev took 12 five-wicket hauls in 66 matches.
The 31-year-old quick displayed masterful seam bowling under London’s scorching sun, leaving England’s batters perplexed with his precision. Bumrah’s landmark performance included the crucial wickets of Ben Stokes (44) and Joe Root (104), both cleaned up by deliveries that showcased his trademark accuracy. His fiery spell helped restrict England to 397 after they resumed the day at 278/4.

The Lord’s masterclass also saw Bumrah equal Wasim Akram’s record of 11 five-wicket hauls by an Asian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia).
