The World Anti-Doping Agency acknowledged that Sinner accidentally encountered contamination from a banned substance in March 2024, resulting in a three-month period of inactivity. This interruption complicated his season despite the acknowledged unintentional nature of the violation.
The final featured typically intense competition between the world’s top-ranked players. Sinner acknowledged the match’s tension, particularly during critical moments. “There was a lot of tension because if I lost that point, we would go into a tie-break and then it becomes a different match,” he explained following his victory.
