Jannat Mirza, a leading TikTok influencer from Pakistan, has surpassed all major actresses in social media following, reaching 25 million followers on TikTok. This achievement makes the 26-year-old the most followed Pakistani on any social media platform. Since its 2016 launch, TikTok has become immensely popular, boasting over 1 billion active users globally. Mirza celebrated her milestone by sharing a screenshot on her Instagram story, expressing her joy and gratitude to her followers.

Mirza leads among Pakistani actresses on social media, with Hania Aamir and Ayeza Khan following with 14 million Instagram followers each. Mirza also enjoys a significant presence on Instagram and YouTube, with 5 million and 222,000 followers, respectively. Her popularity underscores the rising influence of social media stars in Pakistan, often eclipsing traditional celebrities’ reach and engagement. TikTok’s personalized content algorithms have contributed significantly to its success, impacting how younger audiences consume media.

In response to concerns about content, the Pakistani government temporarily banned TikTok in July 2021, citing violations of moral standards. The ban was lifted in November 2021 after TikTok agreed to comply with local content regulations.
