Karachi Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Engineer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has called on citizens to vote in today’s local body by-elections just as they did on January 15.
Hafiz Naeem emphasized that the outcome of the Karachi mayorship relies on the results of the current local government elections in the remaining union councils.
During a press conference at JI Karachi headquarters, Rehman reiterated his request for static deployment of army and Sindh Rangers personnel at polling stations to guarantee a smooth voting process and prevent adverse incidents. Additionally, he asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to install closed-circuit cameras at polling stations to safeguard the credibility of the elections.

Rehman cited reports claiming that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had stationed its presiding officers in district west to tamper with the polls by casting fraudulent votes in favor of their party. He explained that JI teams would be present at polling stations to firmly resist any undemocratic attempts by the PPP government in Sindh to interfere with the electoral process or its outcomes.
“The PPP government in Sindh will be held accountable for any situation that may arise due to rigging attempts,” warned the JI leader. He also demanded the deployment of army and Rangers personnel to ensure fair polling.
