An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of a senior Hezbollah commander, Sami Abdallah, also known as Abu Taleb, on Tuesday.
Hezbollah, the militant group backed by Iran, acknowledged his death, declaring it with “great pride and great honour.” Born in 1969, Abdallah was identified by a Lebanese military source as the most senior Hezbollah figure killed since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has intensified hostilities along the Lebanese border.
The Israeli airstrike targeted Jouaiyya, a town located 15 kilometres from the Israeli border, resulting in the deaths of Abdallah and three other individuals.
According to an AFP report, the recent escalation in cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israeli forces has significantly increased the violence in the area, with the death toll in Lebanon reaching at least 458.
Additionally, Israeli authorities have confirmed the deaths of at least 15 Israeli soldiers, with tens of thousands displaced amid the ongoing conflict.
