The Israeli military has dismantled a Hezbollah tunnel that penetrated Israeli territory. Military spokesman Daniel Hagari revealed in a televised briefing that the tunnel, approximately 25 meters long, crossed the border fence by about 10 meters.
“We discovered and dismantled this tunnel, which was detected a few months ago through technological surveillance. Hezbollah remained unaware of our knowledge throughout this period,” Hagari stated.
The tunnel originated from the Marwahin area in Lebanon, extending into Israeli territory near the Zarit community. During the dismantling operation, the Israeli army discovered weapons, explosive devices, and anti-tank missiles within the tunnel.
Hagari emphasized that Israeli forces are actively searching for additional tunnels along the entire border and within villages in southern Lebanon.
“The tunnel remained under full operational control until our forces arrived on site, preventing any potential terrorist activities,” the military asserted.
According to the army, “For years, Hezbollah has constructed an extensive underground network in southern Lebanon, comprising infrastructure and command centres intended for attacks against IDF soldiers and northern Israeli communities.”
Israel has escalated its efforts against Hezbollah since late September, conducting continuous airstrikes on the group’s positions in southern and eastern Lebanon, including Beirut, while also advancing a ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
