Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has denied rumors that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to the UK, will be making an unauthorized trip to the United States.
According to a tweet from the top military spokesman on Thursday. “There have been baseless speculations on social media that COAS is visiting the USA. It is categorically stated that COAS is on an official visit to the UK from the 5th to the 10th of February in connection with the 5th Pakistan-UK Stabilisation Conference, Which is a bi-annual event for military-to-military cooperation between the two countries. Senior Pakistan military leadership has been participating in the event since 2016.”
On Sunday, February 5, Gen. Asim began a five-day official visit to London. He was there to attend a Wilton Park conference to foster bilateral ties between the two nations.
The COAS will also have meetings with the army chief and UK defense officials while in the country.
Only a select group of officials and academics are invited to the moot, a closed event.
