Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, said the Islamabad Talks diplomatic process should be seen as more than a single event, arguing that the dialogue has created the foundation for a longer-term framework between Iran and the United States.
In a statement shared on X, the envoy said the talks opened a path that could support the interests of all sides if trust and political will continue to grow. The remarks came after Pakistan hosted high-level US-Iran talks in Islamabad over the weekend.
Moghaddam described the talks as the beginning of a sustained effort rather than a one-off meeting. He said the process could lead to a durable diplomatic outcome if all parties remain committed.
His statement framed the Islamabad Talks as an early but important step toward structured engagement. That message also reinforced Pakistan’s emerging role as a diplomatic host during a tense regional moment.
Iran envoy praises Pakistan’s role
The ambassador thanked Pakistan for hosting the talks and specifically acknowledged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir for what he called a constructive initiative.
He also praised Pakistani institutions for managing the event. According to the statement, the government, armed forces, police, and security agencies worked to provide a peaceful, organised, and secure setting for the dialogue.
Moghaddam said the negotiations took place in a dignified environment and that all sides received equal logistical support. That, he added, helped create the conditions needed for serious engagement.

The envoy said the Iranian delegation joined the talks with confidence and focused on protecting Iran’s national interests and the rights of its people.
He added that the broader objective remains unchanged: to secure those rights through continued diplomatic engagement. At the same time, he suggested that mutual trust and sustained determination will be necessary to move the process forward.
The statement stops short of claiming a final breakthrough. However, it presents the Islamabad Talks as a platform for continued diplomacy rather than a closed chapter.
