Private schools in the federal capital have withdrawn increases in fees following Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif personal intervention in the issue.

Education Minister, Secretary CAD and other officials met with principals of private schools in Islamabad. The stance of the parents was given during this meeting after which all principals decided that the fee hike of Rs.12,000 would be withdrawn.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken notice of the increase in fees of private schools. According to the PM House spokesman, a decision was taken to summon a meeting of chief ministers to discuss this issue.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he was concerned with the increase in fees and the problems it had created for parents. The prime minister was quoted as saying that provincial governments should ensure that fees of private schools are affordable for the public.
