Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar addressed rumours concerning the potential replacement of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
Dar indicated that a decision regarding Tessori’s replacement might be forthcoming. Widespread speculation had been about an agreement between coalition partners Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to appoint a new governor.
Contrary to some reports suggesting that former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief Bashir Memon was poised to take over, Dar clarified that no decision had been finalized yet. He emphasized that consultations were ongoing between the PML-N and PPP.

Amid these discussions, Governor Tessori affirmed his commitment to his duties, stating, “Positions come and go, but I will continue serving the people as long as I hold this office.” He expressed confidence in the support from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and MQM-P chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
The governorship’s potential change reflects broader political dynamics, with Tessori reiterating his resolve to fulfil his responsibilities regardless of the speculation. On the other hand, PPP’s Sindh General Secretary Waqar Mehdi has criticized Tessori’s effectiveness, urging a swift decision on his successor to facilitate political consensus in the province.
