Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi recently concluded a fruitful three-day visit to Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
The discussions aimed to enhance bilateral ties in trade, connectivity, energy, and interpersonal relationships.
President Raisi met with key Pakistani leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He was accompanied by his spouse and key officials on his itinerary, which included visits to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.
A highlight was his tribute at Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore and his engagements at GC University. Despite a missed opportunity for a public gathering, Raisi emphasized the deep connection between the Iranian and Pakistani people.
In Karachi, he underscored the unshakeable Iran-Pakistan relationship during an event at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House.
His visit included honours at Quaid’s mausoleum and discussions on cultural exchanges with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
Raisi was also awarded an honorary PhD by the University of Karachi, acknowledging his role in strengthening bilateral relations.
The visit, from April 22 to 24, marked the first state visit to Islamabad following the recent elections. Enhanced security measures ensured the visit’s smooth conduct.
